Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Ali Alizada paid his first call on Syed Tariq Fatemi, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on Foreign Affairs.

Their discussions covered all aspects of bilateral relations and regional developments. 

Congratulating the Ambassador on his assignment, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister underlined the importance Pakistan attaches to its fraternal ties with Azerbaijan, one of the oldest countries in the world. He emphasized the unifying values and similarities our countries enjoy, such as culture, religion, trade, etc. He recalled the visit of the President of Pakistan to Azerbaijan in March 2015, which was indeed a milestone that provided the two sides with an opportunity to review the existing state of bilateral relations and to exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest. 

The importance of high-level political exchanges and regular exchange of business delegations was also highlighted. The Special Assistant mentioned the crucial role of air connectivity in giving a spurt to bilateral trade and economic interaction and people-to-people exchanges. 

Wishing the Ambassador success in his activities, the Special Assistant assured the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan of the full cooperation and assistance by the Government of Pakistan to him in his efforts to enhance the bilateral ties between the two countries. 

Ambassador of Azerbaijan stressed that the two brotherly countries always support each other in bilateral and international forums and he and the embassy would spare no efforts in enhancing not only political relations, but also economic, cultural, military-technical, energy and scientific links existing between our states.

Coninuation of work on improving the legal framework was discussed in the meeting.
