The next charity event was held on the occasion of Eid ul-Adha in Pakistan, on the initiative and support of Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva, First Lady of Azerbaijan, President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
On this occasion, the ceremony organized in "Anjuman Faiz-ul-Islam" Orphanage, Rawalpindi was attended by Mr. Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rehman, Minister of State for Federal Education, professional training, internal affairs and narcotics control, Mian Muhammad Siddique Akbar, the chairman of "Anjuman Faiz-ul-Islam" Orphanage, Mr. Muhammad Asif Noor, President of the Azerbaijan-Pakistan Youth Forum and director of the Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies, public and political figures, senators, media representatives, officials of Azerbaijan Embassy to Pakistan and children residing in the orphanage.
Making his speech as a chief guest of the occasion, Minister of State Mr. Baligh-ur-Rehman stressed that as a friendly and brotherly countries, Azerbaijan and Pakistan share the joy and sorrow of each other, enjoying common values and spiritual closeness. And Pakistan was one of the first countries to recognize the independence of Azerbaijan, as well as unequivocally supported Azerbaijan in settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The minister appreciated the important socio-humanitarian projects implemented by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in Pakistan as the manifestation of Azerbaijani people’s solidarity with Pakistani people. He reminded that as a result of her charity work, First Lady Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva has been rewarded with one highest award of "Hilal-e-Pakistan" by the President of Pakistan. The minister expressed his confidence in further expansion of Azerbaijan-Pakistan brotherly relations.
Then speaking at the event, Mr. Muhammad Siddique Akbar, chairman of the "Anjuman Faiz-ul-Islam", informed on the activities of his organization, which was established in 1943, is now serving more than a thousand orphan children at six centers located in different regions of Pakistan. Chairman conveyed his gratitude to the Heydar Aliyev Foundadion for its benevolent deeds.
In his speech, Mr. M. Asif Noor, president of the Azerbaijan-Pakistan Youth Forum talked about historical and solid political foundations of Azerbaijan-Pakistan friendship and brotherhood links. He explained how both countries are backing each other in almost all issues. Mr. Noor highlighted that the charity projects realized in Pakistan on the initiative of First Lady Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva are the embodiment of both her nobility and at the same time, the friendship and unity of both countries’ peoples.
Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Pakistan Mr. Ali Alizada, on behalf of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and its president Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva, welcomed the participants, making it clear how Azerbaijan has been subjected to genocide, acts of terror, occupation and aggression by Armenia since the first years of its independence, therefore Azerbaijani nation is well aware of bitter consequences of terror and the sufferings of ordinary people and children.
Referring to the role of projects carried out by Heydar Aliyev Foundation in “Anjuman Faiz-ul-Islam” orphanage and generally in Pakistan in bringing nations together and in introducing Azerbaijan’s elevated values in Pakistan, Ambassador emphasized the exceptional importance of solidarity that Azerbaijan and Pakistan display in both bilateral and international forums and noted that of unequivocal support Pakistan is providing for Azerbaijan in Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. He delivered his gratitude to the people and government of Pakistan.
Ambassador of Azerbaijan also stated that sacrificial animals would be offered in Islamabad and Rawalpindi on the days of Eid-ul Adha for the residents of orphanages and other needy people.
In the end, the small plays were demonstrated by the children. On behalf of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, school bags, school facilities and other gifts were presented to "Anjuman Faiz-ul-Islam" Orphanage’s children.
