The Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Ali Alizada called on the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, H. E. Mr. Nawaz Sharif.

Ambassador delivered the best regards and greetings of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Mr. Nawaz Sharif and expressed his honour for the appoinment as an ambassador to Pakistan.

Underlining special importance attached by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the relations with Pakistan, he characterized Pakistan as a friendly and brotherly nation for Azerbaijan. The Ambassador emphasized the highest level relationship between the two countries, the support they provide for each other in international issues, saying that the presidents of Azerbaijan and Pakistan play a particular role in the development of bilateral links. “Pakistan’s firm stance on Nagorno-Karabakh issue, siding with the just position of Azerbaijan and its non-recogntion of the Armenian state because of the occupation of Azerbaijan’s territories are highly appreciated by the Government and people of Azerbaijan.”-he said. Moreover, Mr. Alizada highlighted Azerbaijan’s solidarity with Pakistan, as a member of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s Contact Group on Kashmir, in the settlement of Kashmir issue , in accordance with the resolutions of the UN Security Council.

Emphasizing the contribution by the humanitarian and social projects implemented on the initiative and support of the First lady of Azerbaijan and the President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva in different regions of Pakistan towards the flourishing of brotherly relationship between our peoples, Ambassador stated with pleasure that this process will go forward.

The Prime Minister of Pakistan extended his warm greetings and regards to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and recalled his close friendly and brotherly relationship with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, also the meetings held in Davos and in other high-level events. Furthermore, he mentioned that Azerbaijan-Pakistan enjoy cordial intergovernmental links, as well as, the brotherly bonds existing between the two peoples have reached its peak.

Prime Minister told that Pakistan has always stood and will be with Azerbaijan, and the full support for the Nagorno-Karabakh issue will continue. He stressed great potential and opportunities to improve economic, commercial and other ties besides political one and Pakistan’s willingness to enhance the economic cooperation. Prime Minister wished Ambassador success in his diplomatic activities in Pakistan.

Moreover, exchange of views was conducted on upcoming official visit of the Prime Minister to Azerbaijan in the meeting.
