The Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Ali Alizada had a meeting with the Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, acting Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Mr. Sartaj Aziz.

The Ambassador delivered the best regards and esteem of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Mr. Sartaj Aziz and underlined special importance attached by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the relations with Pakistan. He also regarded Pakistan as a friendly and brotherly nation for Azerbaijan. He emphasized high-level relations between the two countries, the support given to each other in international issues. “Pakistan’s firm stance side by side with Azerbaijan regarding the issue of Nagorno-Karabakh and its non-recognition of the Armenian state because of the occupation of Azerbaijan’s territories are highly appreciated by the state of Azerbaijan and its people.”

The Ambassador underscored that the efforts to improve bilateral economic and commercial relations are being increased, and the work is being done to better cultural and inter-people relationship. He mentioned humanitarian and social projects implemented in different regions of Pakistan by the initiative and support of the First lady of Azerbaijan and the President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Mehriban Aliyeva: “These same projects contribute to the flourishing of brotherly relationship between our peoples.”

Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, acting Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Mr. Sartaj Aziz requested to deliver his best regards and esteem to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and said that Azerbaijan-Pakistan cordial interstate relations, as well as, the brotherly bonds existing between the two peoples have reached its peak. He reminded successful visits of the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan to Azerbaijan in 2015 and this year respectively and stressed that these visits will have a positive impact on the improvement of bilateral relations. Mr. Aziz noted the importance of the support Azerbaijan and Pakistan provide each other with and said that besides strong political relations, there is a great potential and opportunity to expand relations in economic, commercial, cultural, scientific, military-technical and other relevant areas. Moreover, he mentioned the importance of opening  a direct flight between the two capitals.

Furthermore, discussions were made with regard to the future visits, meetings and exhibitions to be held.
