A briefing was organized for accredited Military Attaches and Foreign Liaison Officers accredited in Pakistan
Speaking at the briefing, Defence Attaché of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Colonel Mehman Novruzov, said that in response to the next provocations and attacks by Armenia, which began on September 27, as well as to ensure the security of the population living on the frontline of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijani Army conducted counter-offensive operations.
Giving information about the history of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, UN Security Council resolutions, the Defence Attaché told that counter-offensive operations are carried out within internationally recognized territories of Azerbaijan. While informing about the Azerbaijani liberated villages,heights, controlled supply route in a presentation based on the photo and video materials of Azerbaijan Army’s successful military operations and maps showing the territorial points of the provocations initiated by Armenia against Azerbaijan, Mehman Novruzov said that along with the line of contact in the Nagorno-Karabakh region, Armenia fired on other border areas of Azerbaijan in order to involve third countries in the conflict. Defence Attache stated that Armenian claims that the alleged involvement of Turkish troops in the counter-offensive operation carried out by Azerbaijan was completely false and all these were aimed at involving other countries and armed elements in the conflict. Colonel emphasized that Armenia, on the contrary, transferred its mercenaries and terrorists from the Middle East to the occupied territories of Azerbaijan and used them in the current military operations against Azerbaijan.
Mehman Novruzov stressed that the Azerbaijani Army was ordered not to open fire on Armenian settlements and civilians, that the successful counter-attack was aimed only at military equipments and facilities, caused panic in Armenia and Armenia must immediately liberate the occupied Azerbaijani lands.
Speaking at the briefing, the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Pakistan Ali Alizada brought into attention that the responsibility for the escalation of the situation on the front lines lies directly with the Armenian military-political leadership, as previously mentioned by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan has no military targets in Armenia, the war, which began with the current provocations of Armenia is being waged in the historical territories of our country, Azerbaijan's counter-offensive operation is aimed at liberating our lands and forcing Armenia to make peace.
Informing the participants on a chronological basis about the inappropriate actions and statements made by Pashinyan's government that led to the war, the Ambassador stressed that since coming to the power Pashinyan has chosen to escalate the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh as a way out, to divert the attention of the Armenian people from the political and economic recession in Armenia. The Ambassador urged the world community to take a principled stand and condemn aggressor Armenia which does not comply with the norms and principles of international law, regularly targets mostly civilians and facilities on the frontline and conveyed his gratitude to Pakistan, Turkey for their unequivocal support and to other countries which openly support Azerbaijan’s fair position to Azerbaijan.
