With the support of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, "Azerbaijan Study Center" was launched in Pakistan

The inauguration ceremony of the "Azerbaijan Study Center" was held at the National Library of Pakistan, in Islamabad, “Heydar Aliyev Corner” has also been renovated.

Federal Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training, National History and Literary Heritage Shafqat Mahmood was the chief guest of the inauguration ceremony, which was dedicated to the 96th birth anniversary of Heydar Aliyev, National Leader of Azerbaijan. Ceremony was also attended by Aamir Hasan, Federal Secretary, National History and Literary Heritage, Ambassadors of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Belarus, as well as diplomats, media and public representatives, and students. Speakers talked about important role of Study Center in disseminating more knowledge about Azerbaijan in Pakistan.     

After the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Pakistan, Federal Secretary, National History and Literary Heritage Aamir Hasan emphasized the importance of historical and cultural bonds between Azerbaijan and Pakistan, and of the studies of both countries’ culture, history, lifestyle and other realities, as well as the significant role Azerbaijan Study Center could play in further researches by Pakistanis on Azerbaijan.

Expressing his gratitude to the Government of Pakistan, National History and Literary Heritage Division and National Library of Pakistan for cooperation and providing opportunity in establishing Azerbaijan Study Center at the Pakistani National Library, Ambassador Ali Alizade noted that the Center, initiated by the support of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, will serve for the strengthening of friendly and brotherly relations between the two countries. The Ambassador noted that the Azerbaijan Study Center would also help the researchers, academics, young people and other community members to learn more about the history, culture, heritage, political accomplishments and socio-economic development of Azerbaijan and thus contribute to the Azerbaijan-Pakistan relations.

Noting the social and humanitarian projects implemented by Heydar Aliyev Foundation of Azerbaijan in Pakistan, Ambassador stressed that the books, computers, TV, furniture and some other relevant equipments and materials have been provided to Azerbaijan Study Center by the support of Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Foundation will also regularly supply the Center with its new editions and thanked Foundation and its leadership for the continued support.

Speaking about services and achievements carried out by the National Leader of Azerbaijan, Ambassador Ali Alizada mentioned that the inauguration of the Azerbaijan Study Center is dedicated to the 96th birth anniversary of late Heydar Aliyev, the National Leader of Azerbaijan, who devoted his whole life for the prosperity of Azerbaijan and Azerbaijani nation. He said that Heydar Aliyev Corner which had already existed in the Library was renovated and provided with new editions and materials. Ambassador mentioned that Heydar Aliyev Corner in the Study Center will allow the visitors and the representatives of the society to get further acquainted, to study the life and services of Heydar Aliyev, and disseminate this information about the National Leader of Azerbaijan. Ambassador invited all repersentatives of the society to use facilities of the Center and contribute to the strenghening of Azerbaijan-Pakistan relations.

Stressing that Pakistan-Azerbaijan relations were laid on solid and firm foundations, Federal Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training, National History and Literary Heritage Shafqat Mahmood appreciated the establishment of the Center as a remarkable step. He recalled his visit to Azerbaijan which took place 20 years ago, and noted that Azerbaijan has progressed a lot since that time and was transformed into the one of the influential countries of the region.

At the end, Director of National Library of Pakistan Syed Ghyour Hussain thanked the Government of Azerbaijan and Heydar Aliyev Foundation for the establishment of Azerbaijan Study Center at the Library.

After the speeches, Azerbaijan Study Center was inaugurated by cutting a symbolic ribbon and put into operation for the use by general public. The Center has been provided with the books, informative materials, photos related to Azerbaijan's national leader and other prominent personalities, as well as with graceful books, brochures, DVDs, CDs, maps, pictures and other visual materials, electronic equipment about Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and its consequences, history, science and culture, tourism, national heritage, political structure, socio-economic development of the country.
